Your hike "On green paths in and around Beckum" begins in the town and first takes you out of town. Along the idyllic Pflaumenallee, you head out into the countryside towards Höxberg. The gently rolling landscape, lined with fields and rows of trees, invites you to let your gaze wander and enjoy nature.
A highlight of the route are the Beckumer Berge - a geological feature in the otherwise rather flat surroundings. The route climbs noticeably and you reach the highest point of the hike at around 170 metres. The first highlight awaits you here at the Höxberg nature experience: the refuge, from which you have a wonderful view of the Soester Börde - an ideal place for a break. The route continues to the game reserve with native game species and the historic windmill, which looks back on a long history.
A special destination along the route is the Blue Lagoon - a former limestone quarry that has filled with turquoise-blue water and is now a fascinating place surrounded by nature.
Another section of the tour takes you along the Werse - a near-natural river course that radiates tranquillity and provides a pleasant coolness with its accompanying greenery, especially in summer. Shortly before the end of the loop, you will reach Beckum's Westpark with the Westteich pond and the historic Kreisständehaus, which is nestled in a well-tended park landscape.
Your walk ends in the town centre, where the market square invites you to linger - perhaps with a well-earned drink or snack as a reward after around 18 varied kilometres.
