Public family tour
Would you like to visit the museum spontaneously as a family with your children and learn a little more about the history and stories of the Baumberg sandstone, the craft and the cheeky Teitekerlken? Then come along to one of our public family tours.

Participation in the guided tour costs €5 per adult, children and young people pay nothing. Admission to the museum is free. Registration is not necessary, the number of participants is unlimited.

Close to the stone

Baumberg sandstone has been quarried between the towns of Billerbeck, Havixbeck and Nottuln for around 1000 years.

Today, this sand-lime brick is still quarried in 2 quarries. In addition, there are many hollows - as the abandoned quarries are called - which bear witness to this old craft tradition of stone crushers and stone cutters. The quarries are mostly freely accessible and are often encountered by visitors on walks in the Baumberge. The situation is different with the active quarries, which are only accessible to a limited extent for safety reasons. Visitors to the Baumberg Sandstone Museum can also book guided tours of these quarries or take part in a public guided tour.

Times: Sunday 11 am to approx. 12 noon
