Premium meat from the Keil farm in Reken

At the Keil farm in Reken , everything comes from a single source: from the birth and rearing of the grazing cattle to the time of slaughter - the family farm in the western Münsterland does everything itself. Right down to the sausage, which customers later buy in the farm shop. "We focus on sustainability, quality and transparency," Claudia Keil says. And the animal is always the focus.

About ten years ago, Heiner and Claudia Keil decided to take over the farm from Heiner's parents in Reken. In doing so, they decided to go new ways and switched to sustainable agriculture. Since then, the focus has been on natural, species-appropriate husbandry. The animals of the Blonde d'Aquitaine breed are kept as suckler cows - from March to October exclusively on the surrounding nature conservation pastures in the middle of Münsterland. In winter, they are housed in open stalls on straw and fed on maize, grass and hay produced on the farm. Slaughtering then takes place in the farm' s own butcher 's shop, right next to the stables. "This eliminates the need for transport - and thus, of course, the stress for the animals," Claudia Keil explains.

Special features at the Keil farm
  • Meat from our own rearing and slaughtering
  • Products from grazing cattle, grazing calves and Iberian pigs
  • Open stables
  • Events in the "Bullenstube
  • Delivery service within a radius of 25 km

Private individuals can then buy the meat in the farm shop - Tuesdays to Fridays from 9 am to 6.30 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. At the same time, they are welcome to take a look at the pastures or the stables or visit the playground on the farm. Since last year, the Keil family has also been inviting interested people to the "bull parlour". Here, guests can enjoy juicy steaks and hearty sausages as part of private or professional events. Beforehand, they are given a guided tour of the farm to learn what farming on the farm means, how the animals live and how they are slaughtered. "That goes down really well, we are often booked up well in advance," Claudia Keil says.

A product made in-house from start to finish

More and more people want to know where the meat that ends up on their plates comes from. In addition to the products from pasture-raised beef, the Keil family also offers sausage and barbecue specialities from Iberico and country pigs from species-appropriate husbandry. Customers can also stock up on matching spices and wine or preserved products.

"It is simply fun to make a product yourself from start to finish - without additives and E-numbers," says Claudia Keil. This is exactly what her customers like. They now come not only from Münsterland, but also from the neighbouring Ruhr region. Besides marketing on the website and in social media, the quality of the product is probably the best advertisement.
