Tangled paths, old oaks and idyllic heath landscapes: In the Bockholter Bergen near Greven you have the opportunity to discover an extraordinary variety of nature in a small area. The popular nature reserve is particularly known for one of the last and most beautiful juniper heaths in the district of Steinfurt.

In the immediate vicinity of the small village of Gimbte, it invites you to linger and discover. Many small footpaths lead directly through the sandy dune landscape that is gradually re-emerging here. On the way through the dunes: asociable, slightly elevated picnic area for a relaxing break with a view. Make yourself comfortable on the rustic table and bench combination. From the picnic area you have a clear view of the heart of the Bockholt Mountains: a beautiful heath landscape as far as the eye can see. So, get out your sandwich and enjoy the smell of spring! Worth a visit all year round!

Hike through the Bockholt Mountains

No real altitudes await you on an excursion to the Bockholt Mountains - but it does get a bit hilly. From the hikers' car park, you can walk to the "summit" and then gently downhill again on a beautiful, narrow path. The Gellenbach stream, the forest nature trail, the "Heidelandschaft" nature reserve and the quarry pond offer some highlights on your hike through the Bockholt mountains. You can also learn more about this picturesque place at several information points.

Duration & Distance: 1.5 hours, around 3.6 kilometres for a round tour through the forest. Those who picnic should allow more time
