Driverless transport systems

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are automatically controlled industrial trucks designed for the internal transport of materials. The use of AGVs creates a great potential for savings. This is particularly evident with regard to the transparency of internal processes, the exclusion of human error and the calculable transport processes. Classic AGVs are track-guided, for example with the help of wires or waymarks. This results in the advantage of more flexible use and lower initial expenditure compared to permanently installed transport systems.

Prerequisites for use

Risk assessment

According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, in order to avoid hazards to the safety and health of employees, the employer is obliged to carry out a risk assessment. Hazards are to be identified and assessed in order to derive effective protective measures.

Existing infrastructure

The necessary infrastructure must be in place for the use of driverless transport systems. This includes a master control system and all peripheral devices to ensure smooth operation.
