In the spirit of the energy transition, some climate protection managers, Münsterland e.V. and NRW.Energy4Climate went on an impressive excursion to the Saerbeck bioenergy park. Martin Sammler, Head of the Climate Protection Department of the Saerbeck climate municipality, led the programme, which consisted of the following inputs:
- Presentation of the bioenergy park, key points: Total area of 90 hectares, 7 wind turbines, 2 biogas plants and an open-space PV plant supply twice as much renewable electricity as the municipality needs. The citizens are involved in the energy cooperative and 30 ha of the former ammunition depot are designated as a nature reserve
- Presentation of the ESD-certified extracurricular learning centre "Saerbeck Energy Worlds" by Gabriele Droste: highly recommended!
- Demonstration of the F|Heat application, a QGIS plugin to support municipal heat planning at the Münster University of Applied Sciences research centre by Hinnerk Willenbrink
- Presentation of biogas as an energy source and the laboratories at Münster University of Applied Sciences by Jurek Häner
- Cycle tour through the entire bioenergy park to experience what we had heard.
