Welcome to Altenberge!

In Altenberge you have THE GOOD LIFE in a small community and the city of Münster right next door. The approximately 10,000 inhabitants live in the centre of the village and six small farming communities.

In the park landscape northwest of Münster

Altenberge is about 25 minutes by car northwest of Münster in the district of Steinfurt. You can also reach Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) in 25 minutes and the district town of Steinfurt in around 20 minutes. The city of Osnabrück to the north-east is about 50 minutes away, and the Dutch city of Enschede to the north-west is about 45 minutes away. You can reach the North Sea coast in about two hours via the nearby A1 motorway. From Altenberge station you can travel directly to Münster, Steinfurt, Gronau and Enschede.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Altenberge

Altenberge consists of the main town and six farming communities, which are situated around the town centre in the Münsterland park landscape. The heart of the community is the market square, where concerts and festivals are regularly held in addition to the weekly market. Residential areas stretch out from here in all directions, with commercial areas to the east, west and southwest. To the north-east of the town centre is the railway station, which you can reach on foot from the market square in just 15 minutes.

Even if rental and purchase prices follow the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In rural Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price per square metre for flats and houses is 2,100 euros.

We have tested the ice cellar for you

The Eiskeller (ice cellar) in Altenberge: The underground cellars of the former brewery, where the ice was stored for cooling and the barrels for fermentation and maturing, extend over several floors. Our colleagues Victoria and Eva as well as a group of Münsterland newcomers took a look around here as part of a welcome event . You can find out what they learned during a guided tour on the MünsterlandBlog.
