The 6,700 inhabitants of Ladbergen enjoy THE GOOD LIFE in the countryside with excellent connections to the diverse cities of Münster and Osnabrück. The heart of the municipality is the town centre with charming half-timbered houses, and Ladbergen also includes three rural Bauerschaften.

In the Tecklenburg region between Münster and Osnabrück

The municipality of Ladbergen is located in the northern Münsterland, in the Tecklenburger Land. Münster and Osnabrück can be reached from Ladbergen by car in half an hour, Bielefeld is an hour's drive away. The district town of Steinfurt is about 40 minutes away. Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO)is only ten minutes away in the neighbouring town of Greven.
The municipality is connected to the A1 motorway, which runs directly past Ladbergen, with its own exit. If you drive north, you can reach the seain just two hours.

Tip: The Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Ladbergen

Ladbergen consists of the core village and the villages of Hölter, Wester and Overbeck. The centre of the village with its pretty, historic half-timbered houses, some shopping facilities and restaurants is surrounded by housing estates. In the northwest of the village centre, on the banks of the Dortmund-Ems Canal, there are industrial and commercial areas.

The great-grandfather of astronaut Neil Armstrong - the first man on the moon - came from Ladbergen. Like many other Ladbergers, he emigrated to America in the 19th century - more than a third of the village population set off for the New World at that time. Many of these emigrants settled in New Knoxville (Ohio) - that's why you can still hear Ladberger Platt there today. Ladbergen and New Knoxville have a close partnership.

Shopping in Ladbergen

In the centre of Ladbergen you can shop for everything you need in everyday life: there are several supermarkets, a drinks market and a drugstore, as well as electrical, computer and other specialist shops. In between are several cafés, restaurants and an ice cream parlour. On Friday afternoons, there is also a weekly market in the centre of the village, where traders offer cheese, sausage, vegetables, game and poultry, among other things. You can get everything you need for your bike or e-bike in specialist bike shops.
You want to do some real shopping? From Ladbergen you can reach not only Münster and Osnabrück with their many shopping streets and centres, but also the Designer Outlet Ochtrupin 45 minutes by car.

Childcare and schools in Ladbergen

The municipality has compiled the contact details of the five kindergartens and day care centres in Ladbergen as well as information and contact persons for day care on its website. You can also find available childcare places via the online portal "STEP" - Kreis Steinfurt ElternPortal. Here you can also register your child directly for a place.

The youngest pupils attend Ladbergen primary school, a community primary school with open all-day schooling.
There aresecondary schools in the neighbouring towns, for example a secondary modern school, a comprehensive school and a grammar school in Greven and Lengerich.

Working in Ladbergen

The industrial estates along the Dortmund-Ems Canal are home to a number of forwarding and logistics companies , as well as an asphalt mixing plant, a feed manufacturer and other businesses. Another logistics company is based in the town centre, where there are also several small and medium-sized companies. Due to the direct transport connection via the A1 motorway, Ladbergen offers the best conditions for commuters who work in Münster, Osnabrück or the surrounding towns, for example.
