Münsterland Innovation Award 2019: The winners

They come from the skilled trades, industry or the technology sector, some have just been founded, others have been on the market for decades. These companies from the Münsterland region all have one thing in common: in December 2019, they were awarded the Münsterland Innovation Prize 2019 for their inventive spirit under the motto "Higher. Further. Think.".

The award ceremony took place at the POOLgroup in Emsdetten.

Five winners in five categories

  • Start-up" category: The first prize winner was PollerMax GmbH from Heek in the "Start-up" category. Founded in 2017, the company has developed a retractable bollard that can be installed in less than six hours thanks to its included concrete base.
  • Digital Business Models" category: The Eucon Group from Münster is active in a completely different field. With its innovation "Smart Claims", the Eucon Group from Münster helps insurance companies to work faster, more efficiently and more cost-effectively, making use of artificial intelligence.
  • Science meets business" category: A particularly good example of cooperation between business and science is the innovation by EMPAC GmbH from Emsdetten. Together with the Laser Centre of Münster University of Applied Sciences, it has developed a laser perforation process for conductive multilayer films and thus won first place in the category "Science Meets Business".
  • Business" category: The innovation of the award winner in the "Business" category is all about sustainability. "Blue.on" is the name of the invention by Hengst SE from Münster - and describes a sustainable alternative to the conventional spin-on oil filter.
  • "Small and smart" category: The award winner in the "Small and smart" category has not only developed a new product, but also a special business model. Frank Brormann, master hairdresser and owner of 360° Haare GmbH in Oelde, invented a cutting tool that cuts hair at an angle instead of straight. This makes it more elastic, gives it more body and reduces split ends.
