Working together to attract skilled workers to Münsterland: Employer network Onboarding@Münsterland promotes the region

Münsterland e.V. invited to digital network meeting

First there were 15 pilot companies, now there are already around 40 members on board: the employer network Onboarding@Münsterland is growing steadily and is thus becoming more and more important with a view to securing skilled workers in Münsterland. The members met online for the first time on Tuesday for a network meeting, exchanged professional views and looked to the future together.

"The employer network Onboarding@Münsterland unites a central concern: To understand securing skilled labour as a joint task of the region and to work together to promote Münsterland as an attractive place to work and live," emphasised Klaus Ehling, board member of Münsterland e.V. "In this way we will also finally succeed in putting Münsterland on the map as a dynamic business location." The service supports employers in employer branding and location marketing as well as skilled workers in arriving, feeling good and staying here in the region. Employers from all sectors can become members of the network and thus secure a wide range of benefits: more visibility, support in location marketing, exclusive networking and specialist events, a personal advisory service for applicants, welcome events for new employees and campaigns for skilled workers.

A closed XING group enables internal exchange, for example when a job is being sought for the partner of an applicant. "The network thus gives employers the chance to jointly shape the Münsterland brand and thus position themselves even more strongly in the competition for the best minds," explained Monika Leiking, Head of Services Onboarding@Münsterland at Münsterland e.V..

A concern that was also the deciding factor for the family-owned company Hengst Filtration to become a member of the network. "We are always on the lookout for good skilled workers. And they want to be convinced not only of an exciting job, but also of an exciting region," said Christoph Schings, Marketing Director of Hengst Filtration, who spoke during the meeting about personnel management in times of Corona. "At the same time, Münsterland with its diverse culture, green nature and high economic power is more than worth seeing!"

In addition, network member Anita Mühlenkamp, head of J.W. Ostendorf's JWO Academy, presented her strategy in the area of onboarding in the company. "It is particularly important to us to welcome skilled workers in an appreciative manner. We are all the more pleased that the service supports us in this, for example with welcome events, advice or location portraits of the region and its places."

In addition, the participants exchanged views in small groups on specialist topics - such as the requirements of applicants to companies - and later presented their results. In between, they enjoyed regional products from the region together, which Münsterland e.V. sent them in advance as a small surprise package.

In addition, Monika Leiking from the Onboarding@Münsterland service reported on current developments in the service and also took a look at 2021. "With a broad-based campaign in 2021, we are explicitly addressing potential returnees whom we would like to bring back to Münsterland," Leiking explained. "And of course we are always on the lookout for more member companies to give the network and thus also the region even more charisma!"

More about the Onboarding@Münsterland service

The Onboarding@Münsterland service was created as a regional initiative by employers and business players in the Münsterland region. It was officially launched in 2020 and is implemented by Münsterland e.V. with the support of numerous institutions in the region. The service is not only aimed at employers, but also directly at skilled workers. They are welcomed to the region in an appreciative manner, for example with welcome events at exciting locations in the region, personal counselling and information on the topics of working, living and housing.
