On horseback through the Erler Heide: a ride through the Münsterland around Lembeck Castle

In glorious late-summer weather, 40 riders took part in the Münsterland Ride on Saturday 12 September, exploring the Münsterland equestrian region around Lembeck Castle and the Erler Heide. Divided into 14 small groups, the route – organised by Münsterland e.V. – covered 26 kilometres through the region. As well as the Münsterland, participants came from Osnabrück, Düsseldorf, Wuppertal and the Ruhr area.

The day began at 9.30 am with a group breakfast at Lembeck Castle in Dorsten. At 10 am, the first group set off on the 14-kilometre stage from Lembeck Castle to the Erler Heide riding centre. There they stopped for a picnic lunch, which included homemade potato pancakes and apple sauce. Well fortified, they then set off on the roughly twelve-kilometre return journey to Lembeck.

“I’m delighted that the Münsterland Ride continues to provide new incentives for trips to our equestrian region. Many participants have already said after the ride that they’d love to return to the area around Erler Heide and Lembeck Castle to enjoy a short riding holiday,” says Laura Finke, who is responsible for the Münsterland Horse Region at Münsterland e.V.
