Travelling safely in the Baumberge: Münsterland e.V. supports the ADAC Westfalen pedelec tour
A group of ADAC members undertook a guided pedelec tour in the region on 10 August (Saturday). The places were offered in advance by ADAC Westfalen. Münsterland e.V. organised this campaign, which combined getting to know the cycling region with the safe use of a pedelec, together with ADAC Westfalen.
"We are delighted that the Münsterland cycling region is one of the destinations of the guided ADAC pedelec tours this year. This gives us the wonderful opportunity to show that pedelec cycling can be great fun even with moderate topographical challenges," said Michael Kösters, Head of Tourism at Münsterland e.V. "The Münsterland region, with its impressive natural beauty and rich cultural history, is ideally suited for this."
During a safety training course in Nottuln, which was led by two "Fit for Pedelec" instructors trained by ADAC Westfalen, the participants first familiarised themselves with what is important when riding a pedelec. "A pedelec rides very differently compared to a bicycle due to its higher speed, heavier weight and very effective brakes," said Birte Weiring, Regional Tourism Project Manager at ADAC Westfalen.
After the training session, the 60-kilometre ride through the Baumberge mountains began - past the Longinus Tower in Nottuln and the Ludgerus Cathedral in Billerbeck. The group took a typical Münsterland picnic break at Hülshoff Castle in Havixbeck with all kinds of delicacies from the region.
