E-bike day tour from Nottuln

Experience an unforgettable e-bike tour through the picturesque Baumberge mountains around Nottuln. On this approximately 60-kilometre-long day tour, you will learn about the history of the Münsterland and enjoy the natural beauty of the region at the same time.

From Nottuln, the route leads via the districts of Appelhülsen (Nottuln), Bösensell (Senden) and Roxel (Münster) to the imposing Hülshoff Castle in Havixbeck. It is the birthplace of the famous poet Annette von Droste zu Hülshoff, which is now being developed into the Centre for Literature. This is the perfect opportunity for a relaxed picnic in the shade of the historic walls or in the extensive park. But the cycling trip is not over yet...

Hülshoff Castle

Hülshoff Castle is certainly one of the most popular excursion destinations in Münsterland. Picturesquely surrounded by expanses of water, the castle offers an imposing sight without appearing bulky. It's well worth taking a walk around the estate along the landscaped footpaths - and of course taking a look at the Droste Museum.

Ludgerus Cathedral Billerbeck

The provost church of St Ludgerus is known everywhere as Ludgerus Cathedral - although strictly speaking it is not a cathedral at all. But the imposing, almost 100-metre-high towers give it away at first glance. The cathedral is definitely one of the most impressive buildings in Münsterland. The interior of the church is just as magnificent.

The highest point in Münsterland not only offers wonderful views, but is also the perfect place to take a break. On the beautiful terrace of the 18|97 café in the Longinus Tower, you can enjoy the sun and scenery with tarte flambée or cake in fine weather.

Kolvenburg

The Kolvenburg in the resort town of Billerbeck is the cultural centre of the district of Coesfeld and rightly a popular tourist attraction. Since 1 July, renovation work has replaced the other day-to-day business of event planning, attic tours and exhibitions. Nevertheless, it is worth stopping by the castle to take a look from the outside.

Baroque abbey curiae

The baroque Stiftskurien are among the most beautiful buildings in the historic town centre of Nottuln. Today, they house the town hall and large parts of the municipal administration. After a devastating fire in the town centre in 1748, none other than the famous baroque architect Johann Conrad Schlaun was commissioned to rebuild them.

  • The railway stations in Billerbeck, Senden-Bösensell and Nottuln-Appelhülsen are located directly on the cycle route.
  • Billerbeck railway station is on the Münster-Coesfeld line.
  • The railway stations of Senden-Bösensell and Nottuln-Appelhülen are on the Essen-Gelsenkirchen-Recklinghausen-Münster line.
  • In Schlaunstraße in Nottuln, you can safely park your bike and luggage in a bike box during a tour of the town.
