Vast landscapes around Ahaus
Simply set off on your bike and let your gaze wander: On this 60-kilometre circular tour, you will experience the Münsterland from its relaxed side. The route takes you from Ahaus through picturesque landscapes and charming towns such as Alstätte, Wessum and Lünten(Vreden). A short detour across the German-Dutch border is also on the agenda!
You start in the centre of Ahaus. You leave the town centre behind you and cycle towards Vreden. Again and again, there are marvellous views over the vast Münsterland parkland. This is followed by pure nature: in Vreden, the Schwatte Gatt (black hole) nature reserve is waiting to be explored. The same goes for the Lüntener Fischteich nature reserve, where you will find wet heaths, remnants of moorland, swamp forests and some old junipers.
The Haarmühle country inn on the Witte Venn is a perfect stopover. Here, surrounded by greenery, you can not only eat very well, but also discover one of the most beautiful natural regions of the Münsterland. Finally, you will pass the Hörsteloe juniper heath, an old cultivated landscape with fragrant junipers.
