Events in Raesfeld

Before sunrise, we are on our way to the Sauerland. Everyone is now perfectly equipped with a trekking backpack, functional clothing and a warm sleeping bag. After an introduction to the use of map and compass, we set off at 10.00 am.

We hike in teams of 3 or 4, who can run routes of different lengths according to their ability. At the end of the day, the whole group meets at the agreed location - somewhere in the middle of the "Sauerland wilderness". There we set up camp for the night, cook something and talk about the day's experiences.

Early the next morning we continue our tour. Today's destination is a mountain where we will set up our base camp for the remaining days.

We will develop our base camp further, train wilderness techniques, cook and bake delicious outdoor dishes...

After leaving our camp without a trace, we start our way back and will be back home around 5 pm. We will return home inspired and enriched by a multitude of impressions. An instructive adventure and a pleasant "time out" at the same time!

‘A Heart and an Aunt’ – Episode 1

And this is precisely where things take a humorous yet controversial turn. This comedy is reminiscent of the old films of that era, with charming dialogue and big stars such as Peter Alexander, Gunther Philipp, Trude Herr, Heinz Erhardt and many more. One thing can be said for certain – with these two ladies, it remains highly entertaining right up to the very end!

A show with a bite: Dracula Dinner

A warm welcome to the Dracula Dinner! Take your seat at Dracula’s table and experience an extraordinary dinner show. The classic story based on Bram Stoker’s famous novel, presented in a completely new production.

London, 1897. The Romanian Count Dracula has travelled to England, where he has set his sights on the beautiful Mina, the fiancée of estate agent Jonathan Harker. Mina must fear for her life and her soul. Fortunately, the vampire hunter Sadie van Helsing is already hot on Dracula’s heels.

On the 1st Saturday and Sunday after All Saints' Day, the municipality of Raesfeld, together with Ortsmarketing Raesfeld e.V., invites visitors from near and far to the 40th historic Kappesmarkt from 11:00 to 18:00 every autumn.

The idyllic community is transformed into a lively showcase of regional products and culinary delights. Cabbage lovers can discover and sample different varieties at numerous stalls. In honour of the vegetables, Raesfeld's local marketing team has been working with partnerships from Brünen, Büderich, Echterdingen, Dithmarschen and Hungary for many years.

The Raesfeld retail trade will have some or all of its shops open for you during the market.

In this course you will learn how to make baskets from willow from our professional master of the trade. You will learn how to make a round basket from peeled and unpeeled willow... ... and don't worry, we won't give you a basket - you'll have to make it yourself!

Symbolism and metaphor have a fundamental importance for human beings to make the world and life comprehensible, to understand it and to recognise themselves in it.

Stories and metaphors are part of human culture and still serve to tell and transmit direct and indirect messages. A familiar concept/image that we know from our experience is used to understand a more abstract concept that is less familiar to us. This process can be understood as a transference or a relating.

In experiential learning in nature, such metaphorical moments can be used in a particularly powerful way.

A crime thriller loosely based on Edgar Wallace, featuring live music and singing! Lord George Moad, the wealthy Duke of Northumberland, has invited guests to dinner. It’s a matter of honour for the family and his friends, especially as the Lord is a true gourmet. You’re invited too! It’s supposed to be a farewell dinner, but nobody knows why. Lord Moad has been acting very mysteriously for quite some time now. The wildest rumours are doing the rounds. And finally, the moment has arrived: Lord Moad raises his glass to announce the big surprise, of which even his wife, Lady Maud-Ruth Moad, and his daughter are unaware. Everyone hangs on the Lord’s every word… when suddenly a murder takes place! Scotland Yard steps in, and the entire dinner party finds itself caught up in a police investigation. Be careful not to come under suspicion yourself whilst Scotland Yard is investigating! Will you help the inspector convict the treacherous murderer? Or would you rather stay out of it all and, ideally, know nothing at all? We’ll see! As well as this thrilling crime drama, let our singer enchant you. Accompanied by her pianist, you’ll hear evergreens and well-known melodies.

The Advent market at the moated castle in Raesfeld is a wonderful place to get into the spirit of the magical Christmas season. Every year, the castle courtyard is bathed in festive splendour, attracting visitors from near and far. 
As soon as you step into the market, you’re greeted by twinkling lights, atmospheric music and the scents of Christmas. 
The lovingly decorated stalls invite you to stroll around and marvelling at the sights. Here you’ll find everything your heart desires: handmade Christmas decorations, delicious treats, handcrafted goods and much more. 
For children, there’s a varied programme that’s sure to make their eyes light up: whether it’s a spin on the carousel, the Advent angel handing out presents to the little guests, or Father Christmas taking note of wishes big and small.

This special time of the Rauhnächte is upon us. In the workshop, we will look at the tradition and the myths associated with it. We will make incense which can then be smoked during the incense nights. Different plants and materials will be introduced. With the help of written instructions, the participants will be prepared to make this time conscious and contemplative.
