Werne is not only known for its historic old town, but also for extraordinary events. The "Sim-Jü" is the largest fair on the river Lippe. Not only the locals are in a "state of emergency", but also the visitors are enchanted by the hustle and bustle of the fair. The street festival has found many fans within a short time. With the colourful programme, old and young get their money's worth - a date not to be missed. Many other dates, including those of the Freichtbühne, are listed in our calendar of events.
If you want to see more dates, also from the surrounding area, simply change the radius or extend the search date.
Numerous traders invite you to browse and stroll on the second Sunday in November with a wide range of goods. Traditional dishes such as grated pancakes, stews or roasted venison sausage are also served at the Martinsmarkt. The shops in the city centre will open their doors from 1 to 6 p.m. and invite visitors to take part in a St. Martin's puzzle.
There are numerous Werne vouchers and goose dinners for two to be won. From 4:30 p.m. the story of St. Martin will be told at Moormannplatz, followed by a colourful St. Martin's procession through the town accompanied by singing.
On the following Sundays, various shops in Werne city centre will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. as part of an event:
Vegetables and fruit fresh from the field, meat products from the region, fragrant baked goods straight from the oven, colourful seasonal flowers and mysterious spices from all over the world. The weekly markets in Münsterland invite you to "open-air shopping" and yet are far more than mere sales places. This is where locals and guests meet, the latest news is exchanged and there is time for a chat among friends.
