The end of November is here again! A magical world of lights and delicacies heralds the pre-Christmas season in Rheine. No less than three Christmas markets delight guests and locals alike in the second largest city in the Münsterland region.
There really is something for everyone here: the Emszauber Christmas market takes place on the Emsterrassen near the water and is known above all for its wide range of gastronomic delights. The Nikolausmarkt is an arts and crafts market that takes place on Rheine's historic market square. An atmospheric Christmas market with lots of flair and ideas awaits you in Walshagenpark.
When the cold season bathes the Emsstadt in a beautiful winter coat, it is finally time again for the Emszauber. From 23 November to 20 December 2022, the Emsplateau and the Milchstraße will be transformed into the Rheiner Winter City's focal point for young and old.
With Christmas lights and lots of treats, it's the ideal place to visit with your family, friends or work team. There's plenty to discover here, including the mulled wine lounge, dining area, live programme, after work parties and much more.
With a colourful culinary offer, high-quality arts and crafts and Christmas lights, the St. Nicholas Market attracts visitors to the city centre of Rheine. From 8 to 11 December 2022, you will find lovingly designed gift ideas, including products with Rheine salt or honey products from the beekeepers' association.
A highlight is the traditional visit of St. Nicholas at 5 pm on Sunday. Accompanied by torch divers and angels, and awaited by musicians as well as many children, he comes along the waterway to the market square to tell a story.
The third Christmas market is the one in Walshagenpark. It always takes place on the 1st weekend of Advent, this year on 27 November 2022. Here you will find creative craftspeople who exhibit interesting things made of wood, metal, textiles and other materials. However, the market starts the day before with a Christmas eve with music and snacks. It starts at 6 pm on 26 November!
