Teuto Loop Waldauenweg

The Waldauenweg is one of the high-quality trails in the Seven Teuto Loops and certainly lives up to its name. Almost the entire 6-kilometre route runs through the forests of the Tecklenburg region. The hike starts at the ‘Teutohang’ car park in Hörstel-Riesenbeck. After 256 steps up the “Himmelsleiter”, the first highlight awaits you: the viewpoint above Riesenbeck is aptly named “Schöne Aussicht” (Beautiful View) and offers a magnificent panoramic view of Riesenbeck and the Münsterland region.

Your walk follows the Hermannsweg above Riesenbeck to the “Wilhelmsruh” rest area. A short while later, you’ll leave the Hermannsweg and walk through a stunning natural landscape. Passing ancient trees and imposing rocks, the path leads down into the valley. The next destination is the Lager Berg, which you’ll reach via gently ascending footpaths.

The next few minutes of the walk are characterised by alternating wooded areas and vast pastures, offering beautiful views. Before you return to your starting point via a series of sharp hairpin bends, be sure to enjoy the view once more from the ‘balcony of the Münsterland’ over Riesenbeck and the Dortmund-Ems Canal.
