Plum farm Stemich picnic area

You’ll find a very special picnic spot in Oelde-Stromberg, at theStemich Plum Farm. The farm has been growing fruit for five generations. The focus here is on the regional cultivation, processing and sale of plums. Your picnic spot is situated right by the farm’s entrance gate, with a fantastic view of the plum fields and the blossoming trees.

Special tip: Enjoy your picnic at the Sunday Café. During the harvest season (mid-August to around mid/late September), the open-air café is open from 12 noon, serving plum cake made to Great-Grandma’s recipe. If you’d like to enjoy a picnic with a delicious slice of cake at the café during the week, the café can also open for larger groups by arrangement. And best of all: during your picnic, you can enjoy the view straight out over the orchards.

A visit tothe farm shopis also well worth it. Here you’ll find lots of delicacies made with Stromberg plums, including plum purée, plum and horseradish, plum ketchup, plum mustard and plum chutney, as well as other regional products. All the farm’s own products carry the regional Münsterland seal of quality.

Directions

From the A2 take exit 22 to Herzebrock-Clarholz. Then turn right towards Rheda-Wiedenbrück, take the first road on the right (Zur Marburg) and then the next road on the right (Nottbeck). The first road on the left leads to Pflaumenhof Stemich.
Coming from Beckum, take the B61 to Stromberg and turn left at the pedestrian lights. Then take the second right (Borgfeld) and drive down the hill. The second road on the right leads to the Stemich plum farm.

April picnic

Every year in April, the historic Burgdorf Stromberg enchants visitors with a white sea of blossoms: the famous Stromberg plum is in bloom again! It was brought to the region from southern France and Spain around 1790. From the high castle hill with the Paulus Tower and the Kreuzkirche (Church of the Holy Cross), you have a breathtaking view of the numerous orchards and plantations.

You could combine your picnic at Hof Stemich with a hike, for example. In about 3 hours you can enjoy the white blossom landscape on the 11 km long and signposted plum hiking trail.
