The 15,000 inhabitants of Ascheberg enjoy THE GOOD LIFE in the countryside with many leisure and sports facilities and a good infrastructure. The municipality consists of three districts of different sizes.
Ascheberg is about 25 minutes' drive south of Münster in the Coesfeld district. Here you have excellent connections to both Münsterland and the Ruhr region: Dortmund, for example, is only 40 minutes away by car. Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) can be reached in half an hour, and the district town of Coesfeld in 45 minutes. Bielefeld, to the north-east, is a good hour's drive.
There are regional trains to Münster and Dortmund from the stations in Ascheberg and Davensberg.
Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
The municipality of Ascheberg consists of three districts. About half of the 15,000 inhabitants live in the centrally located main town of Ascheberg. About 5400 people live in the district of Herbern, which is located a good 10 minutes by car south of the centre in the Münsterland park landscape. The smallest district, with about 1700 inhabitants, is Davensberg to the north.
Even if rental and purchase prices follow the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland when building, buying or renting. In the rural area of Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2100 euros.
The municipality has compiled all the information about building, renting and living in Ascheberg on its website: You can find all the contact persons, look at current building areas with building plots in the three districts and view the current rent index.
In the town centres of Ascheberg and Herbern you can browse in various small shops, for example bookshops, fashion shops, decoration and gift shops. There are also several cafés, restaurants and ice cream parlours. Like everywhere else in Münsterland, you can of course buy bicycles, e-bikes and accessories in specialist shops.
You can buy groceries in supermarkets in all parts of the town and on Thursdays at the weekly market in Ascheberg.
There are about ten kindergartens and day care centres in Ascheberg. Six of them are in the town centre, three in Herbern and one in Davensberg. On the municipality's website you can also find information and contacts for childcare by childminders or in daycare groups.
In addition to the primary schools in the three districts, Ascheberg also has a secondary school: the Profilschule Ascheberg, which offers all lower secondary level qualifications.
The Profilschule cooperates with grammar schools in the neighbouring towns of Senden, Nordkirchen and Lüdinghausen, where pupils can take the Abitur.
Thanks to its transport links, Ascheberg not only offers the best conditions for commuters. The municipality itself - especially the industrial and commercial areas - is also home to a number of medium-sized companies from various sectors, such as mechanical engineering companies, technical service providers, wholesalers and sales service providers. The trailer manufacturer Wecon and the company Jokari-Krampe, which specialises in professional tools for electricians, are known nationwide.
