Welcome to Isselburg!

Isselburg is located in the district of Borken in the western Münsterland, directly on the Dutch border. Its immediate neighbours are Dinxperlo in the Netherlands and the city of Bocholt. To the south, Isselburg borders on Hamminkeln and Rees on the Lower Rhine. You are well connected here in all directions: For example, the Dutch city of Arnhem with its many sights can be reached by car in only 45 minutes, and the district town of Borken is only half an hour away. Münster and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) are just under an hour and a half away, Düsseldorf a good hour. Weeze Airport is 45 minutes away.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

The town consists of the districts of Isselburg, Anholt, Heelden, Herzebocholt, Vehlingen and Werth. Most of the 11,000 inhabitants live in the centrally located, eponymous district of Isselburg.
You can discover beautiful old buildings in the town, for example the historic town halls and the windmills in Werth and Anholt or the historic defence tower in the old town centre of Isselburg.

You can buy groceries in several supermarkets and discount stores in Isselburg and Anholt. There are also a number of specialist shops in the town, for example a bridal fashion shop in the Werth district, a goldsmith, a jeweller and an optician in Isselburg.
If you want to shop for clothes and other things, you can reach the Dutch shopping city of Venlo and the popular Designer Outlet Ochtrup in just over an hour.

Isselburg's youngest residents are looked after by around ten daycare centres and family centres spread across the districts of Isselburg, Anholt and Werth. The KiTa-Finder NRW provides addresses and further information on almost all daycare centres.

Isselburg has three primary schools (with open all-day schooling) - one each in the districts of Isselburg, Anholt and Werth - and a comprehensive school with a secondary modern school and a secondary modern school. There is a comprehensive school and several grammar schools in the neighbouring town of Bocholt.

The industrial estates in the north and south of the city centre are home to companies from the mechanical engineering, metal processing and plastics manufacturing sectors, among others. One of the main employers here is TROX GmbH, a leading international supplier of air conditioning and ventilation technology, which employs around 5,000 people and develops energy-efficient and environmentally friendly systems with a consistent focus on people.
In addition, numerous small and medium-sized commercial and retail companies as well as various service providers contribute to Isselburg's economic diversity. The A3 motorway, to which Isselburg has its own exit, also provides good transport links to the Ruhr region.
