In Rosendahl, THE GOOD LIFE in the countryside comes together with good transport connections. The approximately 11,000 inhabitants of the municipality live in the districts of Osterwick, Darfeld and Holtwick.
Rosendahl is located about 45 minutes by car west of Münster in the district of Coesfeld, on the edge of the hilly landscape of the Baumberge. The district town of Coesfeld borders the municipality in the south and can be reached in 15 minutes by car. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) and a good hour to Dortmund. The Dutch city of Enschede is about 50 minutes away, and the A31 motorway takes you to the North Sea coastin two and a half hours.
A plus for commuters: from the railway station in Holtwick you can travel to Coesfeld, Dortmund and Enschede, among other places.
Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
The municipality advertises with the slogan "Three villages to feel good in". In fact, there is no classic core village, but Rosendahl is made up of the three almost equally sized districts of Osterwick, Darfeld and Holtwick. Almost 5,000 of the 11,000 inhabitants live in the centrally located village of Osterwick, about 3,500 in Holtwick to the west and almost 3,000 in Darfeld, which lies to the east of Osterwick.
Even if rental and purchase prices overall are following the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland when building, buying or renting. In the rural areas of Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2100 euros.
Here you can find information on building plots in construction areas in the three villages and a link to the current rent index.
In all three villages there is at least one supermarket where you can buy groceries and everything for everyday life. On the main street of Osterwick there are several cafés, pubs and restaurants, as well as the branch of a large clothing chain. If you prefer to explore the Münsterland by bike or e-bike, you can get all kinds of accessories for your tour in several bike shops.
You will find more shopping opportunities in nearby Coesfeld and in the popular Designer Outlet Ochtrup, which is only half an hour away by car.
There are about seven kindergartens and day care centres in Rosendahl. Three of them are in Holtwick, two each in Osterwick and Darfeld.
There is a primary school in each of the three districts of Rosendahl, so that the youngest pupils have short distances to travel. The secondary school in the village is the Legden Rosendahl secondary school in Osterwick.
Secondary schools, grammar schools and vocational colleges are located in neighbouring Coesfeld.
Darfeld, Holtwick and Osterwick each offer space for industrial and other companies with a business park. Small and medium-sized companies from various sectors have settled here, for example plastics manufacturers, metal construction and mechanical engineering companies. In addition, a number of craft enterprises are located in the area.
The people of Rosendahl are the most sporty in the entire Coesfeld district: almost every second person is registered in one of the sports clubs, and new members join every year. In the statistics of the district sports association, the town has been in first place for years.
