Stadtlohn is located in the district of Borken between Ahaus, Gescher and Vreden. Münster can be reached by car in about an hour. You can get to the Netherlands even faster: For example, the popular shopping city of Enschede is only 40 minutes away, and Winterswijk is half an hour away. The district town of Borken is 20 minutes away. It takes you just under two and a half hours to reach the North Sea coast via the nearby A31 motorway. And if you want to travel even further, there are two airports nearby: Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) and Weeze Airport are about an hour's drive away.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Stadtlohn consists of the core town and eight old farming communities that have been incorporated over time. The heart of the town is the inner city with its pedestrian zone and many shopping opportunities and cafés, which are located around the market and the church of St. Otger. Residential areas adjoin in all directions, home to around 21,000 people, and in the west there are also extensive industrial and commercial areas.

Even if rental and purchase prices overall follow the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In the rural areas of Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price per square metre for flats and houses is 2,100 euros.

In the pedestrian zone in the town centre, you have a large selection of specialist shops, including a sports shop, a bookshop and large and small fashion shops and concept shops. Like everywhere else in Münsterland, cyclists can of course get everything they need for their bike or e-bike in specialist shops here. There are also a number of furniture shops, interior decorators and kitchen studios around the city centre, which also attract many customers from the surrounding area. The Designer Outlet Ochtrup, which can be reached in half an hour by car, invites you to go on extensive shopping tours.

Among the eleven day care centres and kindergartens in Stadtlohn are also some inclusive facilities, and there is also a forest group. Other childcare options are offered by childminders and large-scale day care.

Stadtlohn is home to many small and medium-sized industrial and craft enterprises, for example in the field of wood and metal processing. Today, only the spinning and weaving mill H. Hecking und Söhne reminds us of the former focus of the business location, textile production and processing. The town's five industrial estates are also home to some large and nationally known companies, including the furniture manufacturer hülsta, the machine factory Kemper, which specialises in agricultural equipment, and the Lichtgitter company, which manufactures gratings. The Maria-Hilf Hospital in Stadtlohn is a site of the Westmünsterland Clinic and functions as an academic teaching hospital of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
