Stadtlohn is located in the district of Borken between Ahaus, Gescher and Vreden. Münster can be reached by car in about an hour. You can get to the Netherlands even faster: For example, the popular shopping city of Enschede is only 40 minutes away, and Winterswijk is half an hour away. The district town of Borken is 20 minutes away. It takes you just under two and a half hours to reach the North Sea coast via the nearby A31 motorway. And if you want to travel even further, there are two airports nearby: Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) and Weeze Airport are about an hour's drive away.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Stadtlohn consists of the town centre and eight old farming communities that have been incorporated over time. The heart of the town is the town centre with its pedestrian zone and many shopping facilities and cafés, which are located around the market square and St. Otger's Church. There are residential areas in all directions, which are home to around 21,000 people, and extensive industrial and commercial areas to the west.

You can get groceries, household goods and more in Stadtlohn at various supermarkets and several times a week at the market. In the pedestrian zone in the town centre, you have a large selection of specialist shops, including a sports shop, a bookshop and large and small fashion shops and concept shops. Like everywhere else in Münsterland, cyclists can of course get everything they need for their bike or e-bike in specialist shops here. There are also a number of furniture shops, interior decorators and kitchen studios around the city centre, which also attract many customers from the surrounding area. The Designer Outlet Ochtrup, which can be reached in half an hour by car, invites you to go on extensive shopping tours.

Among the twelve daycare centres and kindergartens in Stadtlohn are also some inclusive facilities, and there is also a forest group.

Children and young people can complete all school qualifications, prepare for their vocational training or continue their education during their training at the schools in Stadtlohn:

Stadtlohn is home to many small and medium-sized industrial and craft businesses, for example in the wood and metal processing sectors. Today, only the spinning and weaving mill H. Hecking und Söhne is a reminder of the town's former focus on textile production and processing. The town's five industrial estates are also home to a number of large and nationally renowned companies, including the furniture manufacturer hülsta, the machine factory Kemper, which specialises in agricultural equipment, and the company Lichtgitter, which manufactures gratings. The Maria-Hilf Hospital in Stadtlohn is a site of the Westmünsterland Clinical Centre and is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
