Once a year, Drensteinfurt celebrates "race day". Then Ascot is suddenly in the middle of Münsterland and the scene is dominated by fancy hats and fast horses. The rest of the year, too, the calendar of events offers some highlights for locals and guests.

As the main event of the anniversary year marking ‘1175 Years of Drensteinfurt’, the town festival will take place in the market square in mid-September. A particular highlight is the varied stage programme, which will provide top-class entertainment on both days from 12:00 noon. On Saturday, visitors can look forward to a colourful programme running until 2.00 am, whilst on Sunday the festival draws to a lively close at 10.00 pm. Children’s choirs, children’s dance groups and a vaulting display will provide top-class entertainment for the whole family on both days. Younger guests in particular can look forward to Clown Ati Atze and Professor Spaghetti. The programme is rounded off by numerous musical performances. Of course, face painting and Ballooni, the balloon artist, are also a must. Musical highlights also await visitors in the evening: on Saturday, ‘The One Man Rock’n’Roll Show’ by the well-known Barney Wewer and the band ‘Maraton Live’ will get the party started. On Sunday, tenor Sebastian Lo Medico will take to the stage first, before ‘Spanke & Friends’ bring the musical programme to a close. In addition, guests can look forward to a varied supporting programme featuring a welcome reception for new residents and an introduction to local clubs, spectacular helicopter sightseeing flights, and a family area with a bouncy castle. Those interested in technology and emergency services will be in their element at the large vehicle display organised by the fire brigade and other emergency services. At the same time, local shops in the town centre will be open for extended hours on Saturday and will be holding a special shopping day on Sunday. Numerous market stalls and a wide range of food and drink options round off the festive weekend, making a visit to the town centre an experience for the whole family.
Since 2007, Drensteinfurt’s town centre has been bathed in a special glow in mid-October. Illuminated building façades, numerous torches and open fires create a unique atmosphere: the town centre’s shopkeepers invite you to ‘Moonlight Shopping’. Numerous events and attractions on the streets and in the shops invite visitors to enjoy “moonlight shopping” until 11 pm. Many Drensteinfurt residents use the evening as an opportunity to meet up with friends and acquaintances over a drink in a cosy atmosphere.

‘Herbstzeit’ is a festival featuring a Sunday shopping day in Drensteinfurt. Local clubs and societies are getting involved, and shops in the town centre are offering special promotions. Of course, there will also be culinary delights on offer. The Sunday shopping event takes place from 12 noon to 6 pm (no advice or sales between 12 noon and 1 pm).
