The Teuto and Canal Tour

Grab your bike and set off on an unforgettable tour along the Teuto and Canal Cycle Path. Start in the Ems lowlands near Emsdetten and follow the route to the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest. Along the 64 km route, you will encounter the picturesque diversity of nature - from the tranquil Ems floodplains to the dense Surenburg Forest.

The route first heads towards Hörstel. Here, the Surenburg castle and the DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst, which enchant with their beauty, are well worth a visit. If you are interested in contemporary art, you should definitely plan a detour to the DA. Between the two buildings, you can enjoy the view from the "wet triangle" - a waterway triangle and important junction for inland shipping.

The route continues to Ibbenbüren. Along the way, discover the mysterious forests around the "Hockende Weib", a fascinating rock formation that is the subject of a legend. According to the legend, a mother turned to stone to save her children from the approaching floods and thus gave the rock its name. A picnic can be enjoyed nearby. The route also includes the popular summer toboggan run, which will make children's eyes light up.

You then pass through Saerbeck before arriving back in Emsdetten. This cycle tour promises not only sporting challenges, but also culinary delights and cultural highlights. So, get pedalling and experience a tour that appeals to all the senses - and don't forget to reward yourself with a well-earned ice cream afterwards!
