Events in Senden

The Steverhalle and the town hall in Senden are the most visited places for events. Here you can enjoy a colourful programme of concerts, cabaret and magic shows for young and old all year round. But there's also plenty on offer at Senden Castle: Picnics in the park, guided tours, action days and much more. There are also celebrations in the streets from time to time, for example at the Senden May Festival. But the absolute highlight of the year is probably the Senden Lights Evening, when around 13,000 candles in colourful light cups or lanterns illuminate the town.

Forays

-through nature and on paper-

From 29 March, Arne Bülow's paintings, photomontages and lino prints at the Kunstbalken Gosselmanns Hof will invite you to explore far and near. The diversity and diversity of the vegetation that fascinated him when travelling in the tropics, in Europe or in the Baumberge mountains are the reason for montages of landscape fragments and structural studies in his studio, which move in the border area of the recognisable and the dissolving. The result is works that evoke and thematise the rampant and labyrinthine in nature in the spirit of a flora ark. Wiebke Tiessen finds other things on her expeditions through the Westphalian agricultural landscape: wayside shrines, remnants of nature and discarded items from the roadside are the motifs and material source material for her painterly and graphic collages and pictures. This gives rise to encounters such as that of a pleading sandstone Madonna who, frozen in rapture, is revived in vain by a beetle or that of a crow with a grinning burger wrapper in a roadside still life. The empty spaces for plants in the painting of the weeping Madonna are somewhat melancholy. It's a good thing that, in contrast to this, the living things still meander through the pictures or make unsubtle comments and the palpable sadness is softened by the liberating flights of swallows.

Reading

Nicole Kordek, born in Rheine, lives and works in Münsterland. She studied at the Universities of Greifswald and Düsseldorf, worked in Göttingen and Peterborough/England during her practical year and has worked in the industry for many years as a pharmacist with a doctorate. As a child, she used to write short stories on her mother's typewriter. This enthusiasm for writing has never left her. After 'Hoferbe' and 'Tortenzauber', 'Betongold' is her third novel featuring the detective Charlotte 'Lotta' von Laurenbach. Together with her colleague Viola Strasser, the young detective embarks on an adventurous journey to Cape Town. After their boss Jochen Räsner, the owner of the Phönix detective agency, is brutally attacked, he finds himself in big trouble. In the Cape region, the two women must now find the person who can help him out of his predicament. Alexander, Lotta's husband, is anything but enthusiastic about this action. It soon transpires that their adversaries, the henchmen of a large property clan in Münster, are only a few steps behind them.

He is difficult to categorise...and reluctant! For Andreas Alba, style and material, form and colour are means of expression - never an end in themselves! Only the joy of experimentation that runs like a red thread through his entire oeuvre is consistent. He works with astonishing impartiality with everything that could serve his purpose: Ink and ink, acrylic and watercolour paint collage material and lead typesetting, wood veneer and free calligraphy. Gold leaf and newspaper scraps lie in his path and become part of his expression. Emotions, impressions and messages are thus given their own language and physicality. Andreas Alba has no fear of contact with the third dimension either: stand objects and sculptures, book design and ceramics are a natural part of his work, which is always characterised by very special craftsmanship. Of course, there are favourite themes and techniques: Hand typesetting and etchings from his own typesetting and printing shop, book and leporello works that flatter the hand and eyes. Andreas Alba lives his life on many levels: Drawing and painting, writing, making music, travelling, woodcutting and graphics are the fields he ploughs through in his search for something new! The separation of art and commerce - vehemently defended by purists - is not his issue! As a qualified designer, Andreas Alba uses his creative power to convey his message and reinvent it time and again. www.andreasalba-art.de

Weird stories from legislation, case law and administration A warm welcome to Ralf Sikorski and to you. Welcome to a satirical ramble through the everyday madness of our legal system, about the unbearable language of laws, the complicated language used in and appropriate behaviour in court and, of course, about the meaningfulness of some disputes in court. Loriot, one of the greatest humourists of all time, got his best ideas by simply watching people in their everyday lives. A married couple at breakfast, a couple buying beds or a family on Christmas Eve - you can't make something like that up. And it's the same with the anecdotes I want to tell you. As a passionate collector of style blooms, I have - inspired by the legendary regulatory mania of the Germans - trawled through the flood of laws, ordinances, administrative directives and judgements for curiosities. We try to regulate everything that can be regulated by law; nobody can count the number of laws we have. The plethora of administrative instructions on the interpretation of laws inevitably leads to a flood of legal disputes in the courts. This is because the Germans' willingness to sue is unrivalled. And if a law is not in favour of the lawmakers and is criticised by the court, the law is simply changed again. This is how the system feeds itself. Ralf Sikorski was a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance in North Rhine-Westphalia for many years, specialising in value added tax and the tax code, and was subsequently head of the tax audit department at a tax office. In addition to his role as a lecturer, he also taught tax consultant and accountant courses and is still active today in numerous training events, including the so-called accountant updates. He has also made a name for himself as the author of countless tax textbooks and practical books, particularly on the above-mentioned specialist areas, and as the editor of a commentary on the German Fiscal Code. His collections of style books "Meine Frau ist eine außergewöhnliche Belastung", "Wo bitte kann ich meinen Mann absetzen", "Ich war Hals über Kopf erleichtert" and most recently "Im Namen des Volkes" as well as the fairytale book "Von Steuereyntreibern und anderen Blutsaugern" round off his diverse range of activities.
