Itlingen Castle for the Castles and Palaces Day

Haus Itlingen in Ascheberg is alternately referred to as a moated castle or a water castle. Ferdinand von Nagel had the present castle built around 1680. In 1754, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style by the architect Johann Conrad Schlaun and given its horseshoe shape (a central building with two wings) with round towers on the outer flanks. Today, the castle estate is owned by the von Nagel family.
