Dyckerhoff nature and geological trail

In the north of Münsterland, the Teutoburg Forest runs through the region and invites you to enjoy a variety of hikes. With the Hermannsweg trail along the mountain range and the Teuto loops and loops certified by the German Hiking Institute, Lengerich offers a high standard of hiking enjoyment. The Teutoburg Forest is particularly interesting from a geological point of view, as millions of years ago, calcareous layers of earth emerged as a result of the folding up of the landscape. As a result, the lime industry settled here. The Lengerich Canyon, a disused limestone quarry, is known far beyond the city limits of Lengerich. The turquoise-green lake that has formed at the foot of the quarry is a popular hiking destination. At the other end of the town, in the Hohne district, an active quarry digs into the rock. This is less well known, but at least as interesting.
