Picnic area canteen hut Coesfeld

In the middle of the Bauerschaft Stevede in Coesfeld, located on the Heubach and the corresponding Heubach cycle path, the lovingly decorated canteen hut invites you to picnic and linger. The hut, which owes its name to the neighbouring canteen bridge over the Heubach, offers an ideal break for large cycling or hiking groups who want to enjoy a convivial outdoor meal with a good view.

The canteen hut was built by eight neighbouring families with their own commitment and with funds from the Baumberge region's Leader pot. Not only was a lot of love put into the exterior façade, but also into the interior of the hut: there are not only cushions on the benches and fresh flowers on the table, but also bicycle repair kits in a small wooden cupboard.

By the way: the name canteen bridge/hut is a reference to a former supply station at this location, as peat was once cut in the area.

Accessibility & Parking

You can park on the road at the side of the path. However, it is nicer to visit the refuge during a long walk, a hike through the region or as a stop on your next cycle tour along one of the beautiful cycle routes in Münsterland.
