Picnic area Sythen Castle

Sythen Castle in Haltern am See is a typical Westphalian castle complex – it may notactuallyhavea castle, but it has plenty of charm! Every Monday and Thursday from 2 pm to 5 pm, and every Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm (from April to September) , the gates to the idyllic garden open for a picnic. The Friends’ Association’s ‘pensioners’ group’ gets stuck into the gardening and offers visitors an authentic glimpse behind the scenes. Those who visit at other times can enjoy a picnic ‘ante portas’ (at the gates) with a superb view of the historic façade. Tables and benches are available nearby. Afterwards, we recommend a visit to the town centre or the town’s reservoir , which is ideal for swimming or cycling around the lake.
