A city with vision

Welcome to Lengerich!

Lengerich offers its 23,000 inhabitants THE GOOD LIFE between town and country: you can experience pure nature, go on wonderful hiking tours or visit exciting events in the historic town centre. You can also live in Lengerich in an urban or rural setting, depending on your preferences.

Between Münsterland and Osnabrück Land

Lengerich is located in the district of Steinfurt - near Ibbenbüren, Emsdetten and Greven - on the southern edge of the Teutoburg Forest and north-east of Münster. Via the A1 motorway, you can reach Münster to the south and Osnabrück to the north in about half an hour. If you drive further north, you can reach the North Sea in about two hours. It takes just under an hour to get to Bielefeld and about 50 minutes to the district town of Steinfurt. The nearby airport Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) is only 20 minutes away by car.
Lengerich also has a railway station: from here you can reach Münster by train in about 20 minutes, and Osnabrück is only a quarter of an hour away.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Lengerich

In addition to the town centre with its residential areas and the city centre, Lengerich also includes twelve very different districts: Antrup, Aldrup, Exterheide, Hohne, Intrup, Niederlengerich, Niedermark, Ringel, Schollbruch, Settel, Stadtfeldmark and Wechte. The spectrum ranges from incorporated farming communities to the village district of Hohne with its own kindergarten and primary school.

Even if rental and purchase prices follow the general real estate trend overall, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In rural Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price per square metre for flats and houses is 2,100 euros.

You want to buy a house in Lengerich? Then perhaps the municipal support programme "Young buys old - Young people buy old houses" is interesting for you.

You can visit the impressive site in the district of Wechte.
