In Nordkirchen you can enjoy THE GOOD LIFE between the magnificent castle, beautiful countryside and the nearby cities of Münster and Dortmund. The 10,000 inhabitants live in the three formerly independent districts of Nordkirchen, Südkirchen and Capelle, all of which offer a village-like community and club life as well as shopping facilities.
Nordkirchen is located in the Coesfeld district about 40 minutes by car from Münster. You can reach Dortmund and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) just as quickly. It takes about 50 minutes to drive to Coesfeld and a good hour to Bielefeld.
There is a railway station in the Nordkirchen-Capelle district, from where trains run to Münster and Dortmund.
Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
Nordkirchen, the district that gives the town its name, is also the largest: almost 5,000 of the 10,000 inhabitants live here. Around 3,400 people live in Südkirchen and around 2,000 in Capelle. In all three districts there is a small centre with shopping facilities, a church and a primary school, surrounded by housing estates.
If you want to rent a flat in Nordkirchen, Südkirchen or Capelle, you can check the current rent index on the municipality's website. If you want to build your own house, you can also find information and contacts about new housing developments there.
Even if rental and purchase prices overall follow the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In the rural area of Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2,100 euros.
Nordkirchen proudly calls itself a "castle community": the baroque moated castle is the town's landmark and is known far beyond the borders of Münsterland - also under the nickname "Westphalian Versailles". You can visit part of the magnificent building, which also houses a restaurant and the University of Applied Sciences for Finance (FHF) of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. A branch of the registry office is located in the "Hochzeitstürmchen".
The centre of Nordkirchen is not far from the castle with its extensive parks. Here, various owner-managed shops offer a small, fine range of products, and there are also cafés, ice cream parlours and restaurants. On Thursdays there is also a weekly market here. In everyday life, you have short distances for shopping everywhere: There is at least one supermarketin every district.
There are around eight day-care centres and kindergartens in the municipality, four of them in Nordkirchen, three in Südkirchen and one in Capelle. In addition, there are day care services, and there is a playgroup in every district.
Nordkirchen has three primary schools (one in each district), a comprehensive school and a special school specialising in mental development and physical and motor development (both in the district of Nordkirchen). Nordkirchen Castle is also home to the University of Applied Sciences for Finance (FHF) of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Secondary schools and grammar schools are located in the surrounding towns, for example in Lüdinghausen and Selm.
During the summer holidays, a varied holiday care programme is offered every year, with many creative and sporting activities as well as workshops and project weeks.
Nordkirchen as a business location is mainly characterised by small and medium-sized enterprises that are active in the fields of metal processing, construction and plastics processing, among others. Many of them are located in the three industrial estates in the districts of Nordkirchen, Südkirchen and Capelle. A comprehensive inclusion strategy has been developed with the large employers Kinderheilstätte and the Caritas workshop.
A special offer is the digitalCampus.Nordkirchen. Here you will find an innovative environment of start-ups and founders, but also established companies and private individuals who are jointly dedicated to the topic of digital transformation. In addition, the digitalCampus.Nordkirchen offers coworking for employees who otherwise have to commute every day. At the digitalCampus, they will find a workspace ready for immediate use (desk chair, table, WLAN, electricity, printing/copying facilities, etc.).
In addition, the municipality of Nordkirchen has a comprehensive fibre optic network and is developing towards a SMART City with a wide range of applications, including new forms of mobility, the development of a LoRaWAN network (Internet of Things), the mobile phone expansion 5G and the digitalCampus.Nordkirchen.
Thanks to the good transport connections, it is also easy to commute to work from Nordkirchen, for example to Münster or Dortmund.
