Olfen is a 45-minute drive southwest of Münster in the Coesfeld district, on the border between Münsterland and the Ruhr area. The town is therefore a popular place to live for commuters; Dortmund, for example, is only a 40-minute drive away. You can also reach the Rhineland quickly from here; Düsseldorf, for example, is a good hour's drive away. The district town of Coesfeld is 35 minutes away and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) about 50 minutes.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

To the north, west and south of the city centre are residential areas where most of the 13,000 inhabitants live. To the east of the town centre is an industrial and commercial area where, among other things, some wholesalers are located.
Olfen also includes a number of farming communities and the small district of Vinnum, which lies about ten minutes by car southeast of the centre in the Münsterland parkland. About 1,000 people live here.

Even if rental and purchase prices follow the general real estate trend overall, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland when building, buying or renting. In the rural area of Münsterland, the average rent per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2100 euros.

There are several supermarkets in Olfen. On Fridays you can also buy fresh food from the region at the weekly market . In the town centre around the market square you will find ice cream parlours, cafés and restaurants as well as several shopping opportunities, for example clothing shops, bookshops and furniture stores.
