Recke

Welcome to Recke!

In Recke you have THE GOOD LIFE with many leisure activities in nature and colourful community festivals. The 11,000 inhabitants live in four different-sized districts.

Rural community in northern Münsterland

Recke is located in the district of Steinfurt and is one of the northernmost municipalities in the Münsterland. The town is well connected in all directions via the nearby A1 and A30 motorways and thus offers good conditions for commuters. Münster is about an hour's drive away, and Osnabrück and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) can be reached in 40 minutes. The district town of Steinfurt is 45 minutes away by car. In the west, you can reach the Netherlands, for example Enschede, in just under an hour. The North Sea coast is just under two hours away.

Tip: The Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Recke

The municipality of Recke consists of the main town and the districts of Steinbeck, Obersteinbeck and Espel, all of which are only a few minutes' drive from the centre in the Münsterland park landscape. A good 11,000 people live in the municipality, most of them in Recke. The smallest district is Espel with about 1,000 inhabitants, Obersteinbeck is home to about 1,500 people, Steinbeck to a good 2,000.

Even if rental and purchase prices overall follow the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In the rural areas of Münsterland, the average rent per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2100 euros.

Here you can find information on building plots in the municipality of Recke and view the register of vacant lots in the individual districts.
