SUCCESSFULLY ATTRACTING AND RETAINING SKILLED WORKERS FROM ABROAD

We offer one-day workshops throughout Münsterland to sensitise and prepare employers for the employment of skilled workers from third countries. We provide practical approaches: from recruitment to the first 100 days in the company, right through to arriving at their new place of residence and developing a long-term perspective for the new employees.

The workshop series is aimed at employers from the Münsterland region who are interested in employing skilled workers from third countries or who have already gained initial experience. The workshop is not aimed at recruitment agencies or multipliers.

Each workshop is free of charge, including drinks and lunch.

The next workshop is expected to take place in July 2026. More information will follow.

The workshop series is a project of the Onboarding@Münsterland service in cooperation with the business development agencies of the districts of Borken, Coesfeld, Steinfurt and Warendorf as well as the employment agencies in Münsterland.

Insight into past employer network meetings

Integration of international skilled workers

Arriving at a company and in the region is not always easy. Skilled workers from abroad in particular face bureaucratic, linguistic and social hurdles. To help them get off to a good start, a total of 60 companies exchanged ideas at the meeting of the Münsterland e.V. employer network Onboarding@Münsterland. In April 2025, BASF Coatings GmbH hosted the event at its Münster site to learn about strategies for successfully integrating international skilled workers. The short presentations were followed by an exchange with the experts in interactive "World Café" rounds.

Transformation in companies and onboarding international specialists

Mastering change in the company, promoting innovation and onboarding international specialists: Around 50 companies learnt more about these and other topics at the meeting of the employer network Onboarding@Münsterland in April 2024. The Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V. had invited them to the BabyOne headquarters in Münster. Attendees were immersed in BabyOne's transformation process and learnt more about the new service offered by Münsterland e.V. for companies looking to employ international specialists. They also learnt about the "10 per cent rule", a method for promoting innovation. After the presentations, the participants discussed the content in greater depth at three themed tables and engaged in dialogue with the speakers.

Finding and retaining skilled workers for Münsterland

Workation or four-day week: What do employers have to offer in times of a shortage of skilled workers in order to find good employees and retain them in the long term? The members of the Onboarding@Münsterland employer network explored this question at the network meeting in June 2023. The Onboarding@Münsterland service of Münsterland e.V. invited them to the GWS group of companies in Münster. Around 50 companies from Münsterland discussed possible factors and models that increase the attractiveness of a company for skilled workers. There was also an insight into the consultations of the Onboarding@Münsterland service, which supports skilled workers in arriving in the region.
