Cycle tour | The castles around Ascheberg

This approximately 50-kilometre cycle tour takes you to the most impressive castles in the Münsterland region. You start the day tour in Ascheberg and cycle through the beautiful Münsterland parkland to Lüdinghausen. The landscape is characterised by many small forests and meadows. In Lüdinghausen, you will come across the River Stever, which you follow for a short stretch through the town. Don't forget to visit Vischering Castle and Lüdinghausen Castle. Two beautiful, even fairytale-like castles that you absolutely must see on your cycle tour in southern Münsterland.

From Lüdinghausen, continue in a southerly direction. After a short time, you will see the "Westphalian Versailles": you have reached the breathtaking parkland of Nordkirchen Castle. The baroque garden is located on the Venus Island of the moated castle complex. You should definitely plan enough time here to marvel at the impressive castle and take in the imposing park. On your way back to Ascheberg, you will once again pass through a cosy and peaceful landscape. If you haven't seen enough castles and palaces, you can take a short detour to Westerwinkel Castle. We particularly recommend a visit around the beginning of April to the beginning of May, when the cherry blossom trees opposite the castle are in bloom.

Schlaun-Café in Nordkirchen

Originally a sexton's house, today a hotel, restaurant and café in one: the Schlaun Café in Nordkirchen, named after the baroque master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun. It is located just one kilometre from one of his works, the magnificent Nordkirchen Castle, and is therefore right on your cycle route. The café is supplied by the in-house patisserie. A coffee with cake or another sweet speciality is an absolute must here.
