Manor houses, castle ruins and natural pool
This 26-kilometre tour through the cycle-friendly Münsterland parkland allows you to make leisurely progress and is also suitable for untrained cyclists. Most of the route is on tarmac farm tracks and is ideal as a day tour. Experience the history and tranquil atmosphere of the area around Ennigerloh. You cycle along a section of the 100 Castles Route as well as the Cement Cycle Route. Impressive buildings, historic town centres and a touch of cement culture await you there.
The cycle tour starts in Drubbel, the historic town centre of Ennigerloh. Striking buildings here include St James' Church - where the village originated - and the Little Drubbel House. You should also make a stop at the beautiful windmill in Ennigerloh! You cycle towards Westkirchen and pass active quarry areas. A little further on, you will see a bridge from which you have a marvellous view of the active quarry with its diverse layers of rock.
The route continues to the Ostenfelde district. If you like, you can take a detour to the beautiful Vornholz Castle or the ruins of Nienburg Castle. Vornholz Castle is still privately owned today. For this reason, it is not possible to visit the interior.
You then leave Ennigerloh and drive to Oelde. Haus Geist is located directly on the route. The estate is owned by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and is looked after by a family dedicated to farming around the castle. The grain harvested here is the basis for the horse muesli produced on the farm. But then it's back to Ennigerloh! After your cycle tour, you can refresh yourself in the Ennigerloh natural swimming pool or visit the old Schwake distillery. The former schnapps distillery is now a cultural centre with stages, exhibitions and the smallest cinema in NRW.
