House Geist
Two islands once supported the moated castle Haus Geist in picturesque Oelde. And now only a few foundation walls still point to the first architectural details of the building, which was originally built as the first moated castle in the Lippe Renaissance style in Münsterland. Haus Geist is nestled in the surrounding forest, which is known as the "Geisterholz" nature reserve and features romantic meadows and streams. The castle has become a predominantly baroque gem in the middle of the Münsterland park landscape, which can be enjoyed from the outside. The estate is privately owned by the Pellengahr-Gröblinghoff family. They have been farming the historic farm and surrounding land since 1884. The grain harvested here is the basis for the horse muesli produced on the farm, which is marketed regionally. Haus Geist can also be booked as an event location, for example for weddings.
