Just a few kilometres west of Borken in the Hoxfeld district lies the small moated castle of Haus Pröbsting - once a knight's manor, then a farm and estate, later used as an educational institution and today the home of a private clinic.
The listed building, first mentioned in 1221 as a probationary estate of Vreden Abbey, is a jewel in the Münsterland park landscape. The beautiful "Pröbstingsee" recreation area with playgrounds and pedal boats is in the immediate vicinity.
Under the guidance of certified nature and landscape guide Doris Gausling, participants learn about the eventful history and structural development of Haus Pröbsting. Once a knight's manor, then a farm and estate, later used as an educational institution and today the home of a private clinic. The tour ends with a short natural history walk along the partially preserved moats around the historic site.
