In Ramsdorf, the romantic green district of the climatic health resort of Velen, exciting stories await you behind historic walls. As an interactive museum, Ramsdorf Castle is both an exhibit and home to many relics of days gone by.
Of the coming and going of bricks
The medieval castle was built in 1425 on a spacious site enclosed by a strong circular wall and a moat. Only the castle tower still dates from this time, as the rest of the complex was destroyed a short time later by the Münster collegiate feuds.
After the reconstruction, the estate changed owners constantly from the 16th century onwards, who used the building in different ways. Walls were erected and soon torn down again, and numerous finds reveal further rooms, a stair tower and a tiled cellar vault. The rectangular brick building with ashlar elements that exists today was built in 1732.

The museum of the same name awaits you in Ramsdorf Castle with departments on regional prehistory and early history, on urban and social history and on natural history. As one of five "Living Museums" in Ramsdorf, you are cordially invited to experience history in a real atmosphere and travel back in time.

Charles Dickens’ Christmas ghost story was first published in December 1843 and has since become an Advent tradition far beyond the borders of Great Britain.
The story of Ebenezer Scrooge has been adapted many times – yet Christoph Tiemann and his ensemble of experienced actors have transformed the original, in its German translation, into a multimedia live radio play.
It is a delight to watch and listen as the five actors slip into 20 different roles and play off one another. The musical accompaniment then really gets you in the mood for Christmas.

- The other "Living Museums" take you on various discovery tours of their own history: Old forge, Gut Roß, zoo and the Tenk-Dröning and Picker Warnsing farms.
