Riesenbeck has long been an equestrian centre. Driving in particular, but also the disciplines of dressage and especially show jumping are omnipresent in the district, which belongs to the municipality of Hörstel. The G Riesenbeck International Equestrian Centre is not entirely uninvolved in this. The extensive grounds next to Schloss Surenburg host national and international equestrian tournaments all year round.
The Riesenbeck International Show and Training Centre continues the long tradition of the local Riesenbeck Breeding, Riding and Driving Club. The centre has already hosted major events in the past. Since the 1980s, a total of five World Championships for 2- and 4-horse teams have been organised in Riesenbeck. The European Championships in show jumping (2021) and (para-)dressage (2023) caused an international stir. Otherwise, the calendar is filled with various equestrian events, in summer on the extensive outdoor grounds and in winter in the large, modern indoor riding arena.
