Events in the Münsterland Horse Region

From 14 to 16 August 2026, a versatile ground work and riding course will take place with Erich Busch, Western Trainer B (EWU/VFD), horse trainer and veterinary practitioner.

The course kicks off on 14 August with a demo evening from 19:00 to 21:30. In a relaxed atmosphere, horsemanship and practical insights into horse training will take centre stage, complemented by exchange and discussion.

The intensive ground work and riding course will follow on 15 and 16 August, from 9:00 to 17:00. Participation is with your own horse and is aimed at both beginners and advanced riders. The focus is on improving aids, clear communication between horse and rider and the precise execution of exercises.

A practical weekend for sound training, greater understanding and finer coordination in dealing with the horse.

The National Championships will take place in Warendorf on the DOKR grounds from 25 to 20 August. The National Championships are held annually and offer breeders, riders and equestrian enthusiasts the opportunity to see promising young talent and future top-class horses. Visitors can enjoy a varied programme of events alongside the National Championships.

The autumn tournament from 28.08. to 30.08. at the Reken Riding and Driving Club is an atmospheric end to the show season. Visitors can look forward to three days of exciting equestrian sport in an autumnal atmosphere. Numerous dressage and show jumping competitions offer a variety of competitions for different ability levels - from dedicated young riders to experienced competition riders.

Riders and their horses present top sporting performances characterised by precision, harmony and fairness. The special atmosphere of the autumn tournament makes the event a popular meeting place for equestrian sports enthusiasts from the region.

Away from the showgrounds, there are also plenty of catering options. A wide range of food and drinks invites you to linger and makes the autumn tournament a successful experience for the whole family.

Experience, inform and linger - this is the motto under which the NRW State Stud welcomes visitors on 30 August 2026 to take a look "behind the scenes" of the 200-year-old traditional facility. From 10:00 to 17:00, the open-air site with its listed buildings, historic stables and old trees can be explored on guided tours organised by the Warendorf Tourist Information Office or on your own. Visitors can expect a varied mix of entertainment and information. For younger guests, there are guided tours for children with hobby horses, hands-on activities at the forge and a hobby horse course. Show acts will be performed on the parade ground at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00. The Rhenish-German cold-blooded stallions will also be there.

On Saturday, 19 September, there will be driving competitions in dressage and obstacle driving. On Sunday 20 September there will be exciting cross-country carriage driving competitions. On both days you will find food and drink as well as entertainment on the club grounds on Bruchstraße.

At the Autumn Tournament, visitors can look forward to exciting dressage and show jumping competitions up to Class M. Riders of all ages and ability levels can look forward to a varied programme of events, ranging from competitions for children and young riders right through to challenging classes for experienced competition riders. 

Sporting highlights, a friendly atmosphere, exciting days of competition and plenty of refreshments are all on offer. 

The Warendorf Stallion Parade takes place on 19 and 20 September on the grounds of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Stud in the horse capital of Warendorf. With around 100 imposing horses, impressive displays and fast-paced performances, the stallion parade offers its guests plenty of variety. The event is presented by Carsten Sostmeier, the "voice of equestrian sport". A real highlight of the Münsterland horse region.
