Beckum is located in the south-east of Münsterland in the district of Warendorf, around 40 minutes by car south of the district town. You are well connected in all directions: It's just under an hour by car to Münster, 40 minutes to Bielefeld and around half an hour to Hamm. From Neubeckum station, you can take regional trains to Münster, Hamm, Bielefeld, Dortmund and Cologne/Bonn Airport, among others.
The Münster/Osnabrück (FMO) and Paderborn/Lippstadt airports can be reached by car in around an hour.
Tip: The Münsterland is a cycling region! 4500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can easily commute to work by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
The town of Beckum consists of the main town and three districts. Around two thirds of the total population of 37,000 live in Beckum. The second largest district with a good 10,000 inhabitants is Neubeckum, which is around 15 minutes north of the city centre by car. The small district of Roland lies between Beckum and Neubeckum on the banks of a pretty lake. It was created in the 1960s as a works settlement for the cement industry and is now a lively village with a good 1,000 inhabitants. Just as large is the village of Vellern to the north-east of the town centre, which was founded in the Middle Ages and has been a district of Beckum since 1969.

In Beckum, you are always well provided for in everyday life: you can shop in many supermarkets and drugstores in the town and its districts, and several times a week you can also buy fresh local produce at the market.
If you want to go shopping, the Beckum pedestrian zone is the place to be. In addition to pubs, cafés and restaurants, there are sports and shoe shops, decoration and gift shops and bookshops. The main street in Neubeckum also offers a wide range of shopping opportunities. And, of course, you will find bicycle dealers selling e-bikes, bicycles and accessories almost everywhere.
Around 24 kindergartens and daycare centres offer childcare close to home in all four districts of Beckum. In addition, daycare mums and dads look after the youngest children, either at home or in daycare groups.

A large number of sectors are represented in Beckum - above all industrial companies from the mechanical and plant engineering and cement manufacturing sectors. The town is also home to numerous service providers and a number of logistics companies. Some nationally known companies from these sectors are also based in Beckum, for example the hidden champion and conveyor system manufacturer BEUMER Group and sites of the fibre cement specialist Etex or thyssenkrupp Polysius. The company Berief Food, which produces vegan and vegetarian products, is also based in Beckum. In addition, Pott's Brauerei GmbH is one of the town's established medium-sized companies.
