The 9,000 inhabitants of Tecklenburg enjoy THE GOOD LIFE with extraordinary cultural events in a small medieval town near Osnabrück. They live in four districts of roughly equal size. Tecklenburg is known throughout the area for its special open-air theatre, among other things.
Tecklenburg is located in the eastern district of Steinfurt, half an hour's drive from Osnabrück. You can reach Münster almost as quickly, and the district town of Steinfurt is only 40 minutes away. Bielefeld and the popular Dutch city of Enschede are just under an hour's drive away.

The town of Tecklenburg consists of four districts. The centrally located district of Tecklenburg , which gives the town its name, is home to about 2400 of the total population of 9000. Throughout the year, festivals and markets take place in the medieval town centre with its pretty half-timbered houses. The somewhat larger district of Brochterbeck , with about 2700 inhabitants, lies to the west of the old town, and the smallest district of Ledde (1700 inhabitants) lies to the north. The village of Leeden (2200 inhabitants) to the east is the oldest district.

Tecklenburg is sometimes called "Westphalian Rothenburg" because the historic town centre resembles that of the well-known town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Bavaria. The old town is a listed building.
