Between lakes and parkland

Welcome to Wettringen!

THE GOOD LIFE between town and country awaits you in Wettringen: The municipality is located in the middle of the Münsterland park landscape, but only a few minutes away from urban Rheine. Wettringen's approximately 8200 inhabitants live in the town centre and in eleven farming communities.

A village between Münsterland, Lower Saxony and the Netherlands

Wettringen is located in the northern Münsterland in the district of Steinfurt between Ochtrup and Neuenkirchen. The northern border of the municipality also marks the border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. In the west, the Netherlands is right on the doorstep: for example, the popular shopping city of Enschede is only 40 minutes away by car. Münster and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) are just as easy to reach; Osnabrück is a 50-minute drive away. The district town of Steinfurt is a ten-minute drive south of Wettringen.

By the way, you can drive to the North Sea coast in about two hours on the A31 motorway, which runs west of the municipality.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
