Sparks are something beautiful in the right place - for example during fireworks. When filling a bulk container, however, they are very dangerous. Because if the film packaging is filled with bulk material or emptied, dust explosions can occur.
Until now, the procedures to prevent these explosions were expensive and time-consuming. EMPAC wanted to change that! Together with the Laser Centre of the Münster University of Applied Sciences , the Emsdetten-based company developed a system to prevent the electrostatic charging of the films.
However, to enable dissipation, the inner aluminium layer of the multi-layer film must be exposed. This can be done effectively and economically with the laser process from EMPAC - which processes the film completely automatically thanks to the additionally developed plant system. According to the two partners, the process made waves even after the project was completed. Companies like Bayer came knocking for information about the process.
