The fact that the name of the well-kept moated castle Diepenbrock means "deep quarry" in Westphalian and stands for a marshy, impassable landscape in no way does justice to the property in Bocholt. A picturesque park with old trees worth seeing invites you to take relaxing walks through the beautiful nature of the Barlo district.
It was named after the noble Diepenbrock family, who received the property as a fief in 1326. From 1520 onwards, numerous structural extensions took place in conjunction with subsequent changes of ownership. The gatehouse, farm buildings and finally the baroque manor house with its own moat from the 18th century bear witness to splendid times. Extensive restorations and renovations by the current owners have revived the splendour of the castle. The interiors, some of which are centuries old, with furniture and architectural elements from the Rococo period, have also been preserved.
