One of the oldest farms in the farming community
The history of this family-run farm, spanning several generations, dates back to 1537. This makes Linderskamp’s farm one of the oldest in the Middendorf farming community in Saerbeck. “Our ancestors already kept livestock and farmed the land here,” explains Peter Linderskamp, who now runs the farm together with his girlfriend Melanie and his parents. He knew from an early age: “I want to do that too – but differently.”
Growing and selling Christmas trees
Moving away from conventional farming towards new, fresh approaches: “The idea of planting Christmas trees took shape whilst I was at university,” explains the young farmer. No sooner said than done: the first saplings were planted in 2015. Further ideas followed promptly: the Linderskamps sowed pumpkin seeds, bought a mobile chicken coop and laid out a flower field for visitors to pick their own flowers. For the direct sale of the farm’s own free-range eggs, egg liqueur and pasta, as well as barbecued meat, potatoes and dairy products from the region, there is the so-called ‘Regiobox’: these are vending machines that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s a service that’s gone down well: “The Regiobox is very popular because it makes shopping particularly easy,” confirms Peter Linderskamp.
