In Oelde you have THE GOOD LIFE between a colourful cultural programme and the green Münsterland park landscape. The approximately 30,000 inhabitants live in the town centre and in three smaller districts.
Oelde is located in the district of Warendorf and borders on the region of East Westphalia. It takes about half an hour to get to Bielefeld by car, for example, and about an hour to Münster and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO). Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is just as easy to reach. The district town of Warendorf is half an hour away.
Regional trains run from Oelde station to Münster, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Hamm and Bielefeld.
Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.
Oelde consists of the main town, the districts of Lette, Stromberg and Sünninghausen, as well as some rural villages. Most of the almost 30,000 inhabitants live in the main town, around 5,000 in the district of Stromberg to the south-east, where there is a pilgrimage church and the ruins of a hilltop castle. The district of Lette, where about 2300 people live, lies to the north of the core town. Sünninghausen is the smallest district with about 1300 inhabitants and lies south of the town centre. As in Stromberg, new residential areas have been built in Sünninghausen in recent years.
Even though rental and purchase prices overall are following the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In the rural areas of Münsterland, the average rent per square metre is between five and seven euros, the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2100 euros.

If you want to shop, the pedestrian zone in the city centre is the place to be. In addition to gift, toy and stationery shops, you can also browse in shoe shops, branches of large fashion chains and small boutiques and concept stores. In between are cafés, bars and restaurants. For your tour by bike or e-bike, you can shop in several bike shops.
You can get groceries not only in several supermarkets, but also twice a week at the market.

In addition to small and medium-sized businesses operating in many different sectors, Oelde is also home to a number of large companies. Among the best known are the long-established Pott's brewery, the headquarters of the Zurbrüggen furniture chain and a plant of the household appliance manufacturer Miele.
The hospital in Oelde - the Marien-Hospital - is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Münster.
With tradition: Two of the 50 oldest family businesses in Germany come from Oelde: Schwarze und Schlichte is a spirits producer founded in 1664, and Pott's Brauerei has existed since 1769. Both companies are still family-owned today.
Crazy: The Stromberg soapbox team organises a big soapbox race in the town every summer. The team's drivers have also made it to the podium at German championships and international competitions.
