Welcome to Werne!

The 30,000 inhabitants of Werne enjoy THE GOOD LIFE between Münsterland and the Ruhr area, between urban cultural and shopping opportunities and leisure time in the countryside. In addition to the core town of Werne with its historic centre, there is a smaller district and rural villages.

Between Münster, Dortmund and Hamm

Werne is located about 35 minutes by car south of Münster on the border between Münsterland and the Ruhr area. It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Dortmund and about 25 minutes to Hamm. Bielefeld in East Westphalia and Düsseldorf in the Rhineland are just over an hour away.
Regional trains run from Werne station to Münster and Dortmund. Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO) is 40 minutes away by car.

Tip: Münsterland is a cycling region! 4,500 kilometres of cycle paths offer you almost unlimited possibilities in the city and in the countryside: you can commute to work comfortably by bike and go on great tours with friends and family.

Living in Werne

Most of the 30,000 inhabitants of Werne live in the extensive housing estates around the historic town centre. About 5,000 people live in the district of Stockum to the east, which also includes the two rural villages of Horst and Wessel . To the south of Werne and Stockum flow the Lippe and the Datteln-Hamm Canal, with the green Lippe meadows stretching in between.

Even if rental and purchase prices overall follow the general real estate trend, there are still numerous niches to be discovered in Münsterland for building, buying or renting. In the rural areas of Münsterland, the average rental price per square metre is between five and seven euros, and the average purchase price for flats and houses per square metre is 2100 euros.
